The PADI Enriched Air Diver (Nitrox) program will open your training to the realm of mixed gas diving. Learning how to dive Nitrox will significantly lengthen your bottom time, add to your understanding of your body's reaction to gas under pressure, and open up new dive sites for your exploration.
Dixie Divers offers you three easy ways to learn how to dive with Nitrox gas mixes:

Enriched air works by increasing the percentage of oxygen in the air you are breathing. As you learned in your open water class, normal air is 21% oxygen, 79% nitrogen. Enriched air replaces some of that nitrogen with more oxygen, giving you as much as 40% oxygen in a tank of air. To find out how to make the most of your bottom time, stop by Dixie Divers and tell us that you want to dive Enriched Air today!
Did you know that Dixie Divers was instrumental in making the use of Nitrox legal? We made history in 1999, making it possible for instructors, dive guides and scuba divers to use Nitrox. In Nitrox diving, a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen gases replaces compressed air as the breathing gas. The partial pressure of nitrogen (a gas that causes decompression sickness) in the gas mixture is lower than it is in compressed air, and that lower pressure allows the diver to remain longer at specified depths than conventional SCUBA divers who breathe compressed air at those depths, and to do so without increasing their risk of decompression sickness.
